Over the Rockies

In mid-September, we flew over the mountains to see what we could see. And all that we could see was a Great Salt Lake, some good friends, and... Well, I'll start with our afternoon at Antelope Island State Park to see the Great Salt Lake.

After wading in the Great Salt Lake, we hiked over some sand dunes, explored a field of Black-Eyed Susan daisies, and spied wild bison and deer in the distance.

We stayed with Mary Beth and Chad in Ogden for the long weekend. The girls were excited to help make homemade pasta for dinner and homemade peach ice cream for dessert!

We went to the farmers' market in downtown Odgen, where we rode a train, tasted bread samples, bought much yummy food, and admired painted horse statues.

This is the view from Mary Beth's driveway:

The mountains are so close to their house, we just walked right up to them for a short sunset hike.

We also enjoyed cheering on the Irish to victory, engaging in adult conversation with our old college friend, and playing Carcassonne after the kids' bedtime. Thanks, Mary Beth and Chad, for a wonderful weekend trip! More Utah pictures to come in the next two posts.
